How effective is lea®contraceptivum?
The rate of unintented pregnancies was calculated
2,2 % when used used correctly in conjunction with [spermicidal jelly].
2,9 % when used without [spermicidal jelly].
- back to list of questions-

There are no side effects?
Yes! lea®contraceptivum is pure medical grade silicone rubber. There are no known local or systemic side effects. Women using any vaginal inserted product may encounter an urinary tract infection. The study revealed that there is also no relationship between urinary tract infection and the use of lea®contraceptivum.

Is it easy to use?
Yes, have a look at our page on [Usage at http://www.leadirekt.de/en/].

What spermicidal jelly?
We recommend spremicide diaphragm jelly ( active agent: nonoxynol-9), that destroys sperms.
You may also try our diaphragm-gel (e.g. on lactic acid basis, only demobilzing sperms)
Place your order for spermicidal jellies and lea®contraceptivum in
our [onlineShop].
- back to list of questions-

Do I have to use spermicidal jelly?
We strongly recommend it, the [effectivness] of lea®contraceptivum is higher when used with [spermicidal jelly]. It is your choice however.
For Example: Some women, who used diaphragm for contraception before, feel safe in handling lea®contraceptivum, trust this method and enjoy not to use [spermicidal jelly].
Reason is:
Why: effectiveness stems from product design thus in the suction, that the valve causes when inserting and because of the thick edge, which encloses the cervix.
- back to list of questions-

Can I convince myself of the effectivness?
yes: Insert lea®contraceptivum. Than pull the loop, as if one removes a tampon. If lea®contraceptivum can be pulled out in such a way, the necessary sucction did not build up. Start over again and insert lea®contraceptivum. Pay attention to the ammount of spermicidal jelly used. Correct is a haselnut-equivalent given in the lower third to the edge to the valve. In no case smear close the exit to the valve. This would obstruct the air flow, which is necessary to build the sucction that keeps lea®contraceptivum in place over the cervix.
- back to list of questions-

How do I remove lea®contraceptivum?
For contraceptive effectiveness lea®contraceptivum should be left in place at least eight hours after the last occurrence of sexual intercourse.
To remove, grasp the control loop and gently twist it to break the suction. Or simply tuck the finger slowly under the edge. If the suction is broken, you can pull you out easily.
- back to list of questions-

Why can't sperm travel up the valve?

  • When the air trapped between the cervix and lea®contraceptivum has been vented out of the one-way valve, it has created a tight fit (sucction seal): And as it is a one-way-valve, fluids can go from cervix to vagina but not sperm from vagina to cervix.
  • The selected material (silicone) and the length of the valve leave only a small chance of survival to the sperm.
  • Sperms only can survive in a certain lactic acid environment.

- back to list of questions-

Can lea®contraceptivum shift?
Once inserted, the air trapped between the cervix and lea®contraceptivum will be vented out of the one-way valve, creating a tight fit (seal) between the vagina's wall and the device.
- back to list of questions-

Do i feel lea®contraceptivum?
Since vagina muscles can stretch some distance to accommodate a baby's head, once lea®contraceptivum is inserted you should not feel it. lea®contraceptivum will not interrupt spontaneity or reduce sexual pleasure to either partner.
- back to list of questions-

Will my partner feel lea®contraceptivum? lea®contraceptivum will not interrupt spontaneity or reduce sexual pleasure to either partner. The male partner may, on a rare occasion, have a sense of awareness, and in rare cases, may object to its use.
This happens sometimes at the beginning of usage or only with certain positions. Perhaps this hint works for you: Do not to show your partner lea®contraceptivum before the first use at all. Men often cannot imagine that there is still enough place for them.
